Overcome fear, anxiety and depression; trade you sorrows to God (Psalms 46:10)
Those who believe in God and know that the LORD God is in control of every situation even if everything appears to be falling apart will triumph over anxiety and depression.
Anxiety and depression are very common medical conditions which can lead to mental disability . For example, about 1 in 10 Americans are said to be affected by depression. It is estimated that the number of people diagnosed with depression increases annually by 20%. The Healthline reports situations like “trauma, big change, or struggle in life can trigger a case of depression. Losing a loved one, being fired, having financial troubles, or undergoing a serious change can have a big impact on people” leading to depression.
However, you can overcome anxiety and depression caused by such situations by believing in the Lord Jesus. He will not only deliver you from fear, anxiety and depression but also deliver your soul from shoel. The University of Maryland Medical Center reports that “Spiritual practices tend to improve coping skills and social support, foster feelings of optimism and hope, promote healthy behaviour, reduce feelings of depression and anxiety, and encourage a sense of relaxation.” Spiritual values helps to increase the quality of life.
However, it is not just a form of spirituality that will help us live very positively, it is the object of our faith i.e faith in the Living God. Faith in God testifies; “The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress” and it always hears the loud voice of God; “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:8,10). When storms of live that can create fear and anxiety, eventually leading to depression arises, one who believes and trusts in God will know that the LORD is in control.
A believer in Christ Jesus experiences an ultimate peace from God because he prays about everything as commanded by apostle Paul; “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7 NLT). God has already commanded us to be still and know that he is God. It is up to you to take it and have your worries cared for by him or reject God and be swallowed by the storm. Johnny Otis, Shuggie Otis, Joseph C. Liggins  have written it all in their him Still;
Hide me now
Under Your wings
Cover me
Within Your mighty hand
When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with You above the storm
Father you are King over the flood
I will be still, know You are God
Find rest my soul
In Christ alone
Know His power
In quietness and trust
When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with You above the storm
Father You are king over the flood
I will be still, know You are God [x2]
Find rest my soul
In Christ alone
Know His power
In quietness and trust
When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with You above the storm
Father You are king over the flood
I will be still, know You are God [x2]
