Tell your story, the story of your Redemption (Psalm 107:1-2)

In her popular and rich hymn Blessed Assurance, the blind hymn writer Fanny Crosby makes a powerful testimony of her redemption by the Lord Jesus. Fanny testifies that Jesus is hers, and that life in Christ now is a foretaste of the glory divine. She continues to testify that she is an heir of Salvation, purchased of God, Born of His Spirit and washed in His blood. Oh what a powerful testimony that describes the work of Christ to a wretch like me. The lyrics of the first verse of Fanny’s Blessed Assurance reads;

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!

O what a foretaste of glory divine!

Heir of salvation, purchase of God,

Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Surely if you are redeemed of the Lord Jesus, you have a story to tell, you have a testimony to announce to the nations, you have a hundred reasons to tell your story. Like Fanny, one of the Psalmists was not afraid to tell the story of the redemptive power of the Almighty. In Psalm 107, he writes;

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the LORD tell their story, those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south (Psalm 107:1-2).

I have a story to tell because I am redeemed, saved by the LORD Jesus Christ. I have a testimony, not for having acquired a car, not for having my full needs provided, not for all the materials I possess BUT because I was once lost but now am found, that I am an heir of Salvation, purchased by God, born of his Spirit and washed by the blood of the Lamb. I will tell this story to the ends of the earth, I will proclaim his goodness to all mankind, I will sing;

This is my story, this is my song,

Praising my Saviour all the day long;

This is my story, this is my song,

Praising my Saviour all the day long.

Tell your story, the story of your redemption. Amen! Rev. J
