The LORD my Maker, Provider and Keeper (Psalm 121)

Psalm 121 is a beautiful psalm the rejuvenates my hopes in the LORD, for I know he does not only save my soul from hell; he who made me is also is my Provider and my Keeper. The Lord Jesus, is not like earthly kings who are as mortal as their subjects.

“Once a great king visited a town to lay the foundation stone of a new hospital. Thousands of school children greeted him and sang for him. Soon after the king passed a group of children, a teacher saw a little girl crying. She asked, “Why are you crying? Did you not see the king?” The little girl sobbed out, “Yes, teacher, but the king did not see me.” How different the Lord Jesus Christ is from earthly kings. Not only does He give life to each one, but He is also personally interested in and personally maintains each life” (Anonymous).

Knowing that God is personally interested and personally sustains his life, the psalmist proclaims;

I life up my eyes to the mountains, where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip, he who watches over Israel neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you, the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm, he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore (Psalm 121).

I have all reasons to lift up my eyes to God Almighty, I am convinced that I will not be disappointed upon lifting my eyes to the LORD because he has promised that “those who hope in [Him] will not be disappointed” (Isaiah 49:23). The LORD who is the maker of heaven and earth, the one who created me in his own image is my Provider, he is my Keeper. He neither slumbers nor sleeps, 24/7 watching over me day in and day out. Dear friend, put your hope in the LORD and He will “Keep you from all harm, he will watch over your life; [He] will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” Amen! Rev. J
