Jesus—the name above all names

“Wherefore, also, God did highly exalt him, and gave to him a name that [is] above every name, that in the name of Jesus every knee may bow—of heavenlies, and earthlies, and what are under the earth” (Philippians 2:9-10, YLT)

Although his earthly life was over two thousand years ago, Jesus’ name continues to be one of the most famous and sounding names. Moments before this post, I did a Google search of the name Jesus Christ, and I got about 30,600,000 results. A similar search for some persons whose names I hear often showed the following research results: Donald Trump, 54,700,000 results; Barack H. Obama, 13,800,000 results; Christiano Ronaldo 11,800,000 results; and Mohammed Salah, 1,780,000 results. These search result figures are too weak to determine the most ‘powerful name’ but gives us a clue of how great the name of Jesus Christ has remained even after two millennia of his life on earth.

The name of Jesus, the scriptures declare is the name above all names. In the name of Jesus, humankind receives salvation (Acts 4:12), in his name demons flee (Acts 16:17-28), in his name we are baptized (Matt. 28:19-20) and become the children of God (John 1:12). Writing to the Philippians, Paul did mention that the name of Jesus is the name above all names, and that at his name every knee shall bow and every tongue confesses that Jesus is Lord (Phil. 2:9-10).

Whether you choose to honor the name Jesus or not, whether you believe in his name or not, whether you have a regard for this name—the name above all names; God has already decreed: Jesus—the name above all names. Even the most atheist man on earth at one moment will bow before his name and confess him Lord.

It is better to believe and surrender to the name of Jesus now by choice and be saved in his name than be compelled to confess his name before his judgment throne.

Believe in Jesus, the name above all names and be saved.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to continuously confess your name—the name above all names until I reach your glorious kingdom. Amen!
